Job Coordination Scheme

Job Coordination Scheme

Asha Nepal’s Job Coordination Scheme is recognised as an innovative first in Nepal. The programme provides job-seeker support for girls and women returned from trafficking as well as for the older beneficiaries of Asha's programmes. This is a vital step for women who are routinely stigmatised by society, to enable them to reintegrate fully and lead normal lives. The Job Coordination Scheme is kindly supported by Geneva Global.

Our Job Coordinator liaises with new and existing employers and seeks out potential providers of job opportunities; coordinates relevant training provision; coaches clients through interviews and gives post-employment support.

Seed Projects

In Nepal employment has strong cultural and social links to family. The normal way for a young person to find work is through their extended family. Without this support finding meaningful, worthwhile and economically viable employment is very difficult. To this end Asha Nepal has set up a seed fund and self-employment scheme, helping to train girls in areas where they can be self-employed, eg tailoring, animal husbandry, hairdressing/beauty care, a small shop or market stall etc.

With an initial fund Asha set up the first seed project, a tailoring shop and boutique. The seed money is provided in the form of an interest free loan which is open ended and subject to the ability of the beneficiary’s ability to re-pay. As funds are returned this goes back into funding further projects.

If you wish to support a seed project please contact us to discuss, many thanks.
