Asha-Nepal have been funding the HIV-Aids hospice at Satighata in SE. Nepal from a few months after it opened in 1997.

The hospice is run as a home farm, with cows, goats, chickens, geese, rabbits and a well stocked lake for fish farming. On two sides it is bounded by its own paddy fields and a large vegetable patch.

The hospice has set up good relations with its neighbours and runs a fully stocked clinic which the local communities can access for nothing more than the cost of medication etc. often paid in kind.

Though located in a remote area Princess Anne made a specific point to visit the hospice in 2000 and shares an interest with The Prince of Wales in the fight against trafficking in Nepal.

Asha-Nepal raised funds to build a much needed isolation ward at the hospice and works closely with a group of like minded charities in Germany, Switzerland and Japan on an HIV medication programme, Initiative Hope which includes HIV victims cared for at the Satighta Hospice.

Nursing teams and a doctor working out of the Maiti Nepal clinic in Kathmandu carry out regular medication checks at the hospice.

The hospice is also the base for the self sufficiency Bee keeping project run by Asha-Nepal with funding up until 2004 from Bees Abroad, who have been an excellent and understanding partner.
