Between 8,000 and 12,000 girls are trafficked each year from Nepal into brothels in India and abusive domestic labour in the Middle East.
The average life expectancy of a Nepali woman is 62 years. The life expectancy of a trafficked girl is 30. Many contract HIV/Aids and are slung out of the brothels to die. Tuberculosis and other diseases are also common killers.
