Peter and Mao |
We all know it's been a lean year for charities. We are now in desperate need of funds to meet our project commitments, helping trafficked women and neglected children in Nepal. We've come up with a way that you can help with minimum effort! Simply dust down your intellects, polish your reading glasses and join us in the first-ever
ASHA NEPAL WINTER BOOKATHON!
Who wants to get up at 6am in the cold and dark and train for a marathon when you could stay in bed and read? Now you can do just that and gain a halo at the same time. The idea is to read a weighty tome that you've been meaning to read for years but have never made time for.
All you have to do is:
1. Pick your book (we suggest a minimum of 500 pages, but if you're too busy, don't worry - go for a Half-Bookathon at 300+ pages!)
2. Send a photo of yourself, preferably with your book, along with title, author and number of pages, to ashanepal09@googlemail.com
3. Wait for us to set up your unique fundraising page on Just Giving and send you the link
4. Pay in a suggested donation of £20 (£5 for students or children)
5. Email the link to all your friends, and ask everyone to sponsor you in your arduous endeavour (or indeed to join in the Bookathon – the more the merrier). Click on 'Share this page' at the foot of your Just Giving page to put the link on Facebook, Twitter, etc.
6. Feel great that you've helped Asha Nepal to
* continue funding the HIV halfway house
* look after 15 children who would otherwise be on the streets
* fund a clinic for former trafficked women and others in desperate need
* replenish our emergency fund
To inspire you, here's what we're reading:
Peter (Chairman) - Mao The Unknown Story by Jung Chang (832 pages)
Sue (Trustee) - War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy (1408 pages)
Jamie (Trustee) - Eldest by Christopher Paolini (704 pages)
Thank you so much. We look forward to hearing from you, and happy reading!
